Stone work in a West Jutland port

In a maintenance project, securing of port infrastructure in a West Jutland harbor, Høj Nordic Marine Contractor has placed stones repairing existing breakwaters and filling a large hole in the harbor basin seabed. The project was carried out using the vessels Aase Høj and Vilma Høj, which handled the transport and precise placement of up to 10,000 tons of stone material.

Technically challenging work in front of lock area

The work was carried out near a lock that connects the harbor basin with an inner fjord, which is only open during certain periods of time. Due to the current conditions making it impossible to work in front of the lock while it is open, the project placed particularly high demands on planning and timing.

Coordinated effort between vessels

The project was divided into two phases: Aase Høj worked until the lock closed, after which Vilma Høj continued and completed the work when conditions allowed. This careful coordination ensured efficient use of the available work periods and contributed to meeting all project deadlines.

Securing and stabilizing

The placed stones have multiple purposes – partly as scour protection to shield against erosion from currents and waves, and partly as repair and stabilization of existing structures. The overall result is a robust and future-proof harbor structure, ready to support maritime activity for many years to come.
